Trash/Recycling

Bid Proposal for 2027-2031 Trash/Recycling – PENDING REBID

Trash and recycling collection is every Wednesday. The trash hauler is Casella Waste Systems.  Branch chipping is performed by Borough employees the 1st and 3rd weeks of April, May, June, July, August, September, and October. Christmas tree chipping occurs 4 weeks in January.

Trash Collection

Trash is collected on a Wednesday. When the following holidays occur on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, the trash collection will take place on Thursday that week: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Each residential unit is allocated one 96-gallon toter for waste which should be set out between 6 p.m. and midnight on Tuesday evening. To allow for automated pickup, toters should be wheeled to the end of the driveway or the alley, allowing at least 3 feet clearance from mailboxes, poles, lampposts, vehicles and other toters. Wheels should be towards the house to insure materials are emptied. All items should be placed in the trash toter in bags, not loose.

Bulk items must be scheduled and paid for in advance directly from the trash hauler, Casella Waste Systems. You can reach them at 610-754-0103, option 2, or email Whitetail.EGreenville@casella.com. Bulk item service occurs on your normal service day and requests must be received at least 48 hours in advance. For more details about bulk items and removal by Casella Waste Systems, use the following link: https://www.whitetaildisposal.com/municipality/east-greenville-borough/

An additional 96-gallon trash toter may be purchased directly from Casella Waste Systems. Fees are listed on the Borough’s Fee Schedule

Recycling

Each residential unit is allocated one 96-gallon toter for recycling which should be set out between 6 p.m. and midnight on Tuesday evening. To allow for automated pickup, toters should be wheeled to the end of the driveway or the alley, allowing at least 3 feet clearance from mailboxes, poles, lampposts, vehicles and other toters. Wheels should be towards the house to insure materials are emptied. All items should be placed in the recycling toter loose; do not put in bags.

The following items are collected:
–  Plastics #1 thru #7 only; rinse your bottles, jars, jugs and tubs.
–  Glass – clear glass & colored (no window panes); rinse and empty completely.
–  Tin, aluminum, steel and bimetallic cans; empty and rinsed
–  Cardboard & Paper; clean and dry paper, high-grade office paper, newsprint, magazines, corrugated paper, junk mail and other paper board products such as cereal boxes. Cardboard must be flattened.

Montgomery County offers several hazardous waste recycling events.  Visit their website at MontcoPARecycles.org for dates of collection events.

Branch Chipping

Branch chipping is performed April through October, on the first and third weeks of the month.  Tuesday is the preferred collection day at this time, but that may change due to weather or scheduling conflicts.

Please follow the below guidelines:
* Place branches where you place your trash.
* We can spend no more than 10 minutes at any given stop.
* Stacking branches in an orderly fashion as close to the alley as possible saves pick up time. You may place smaller branches in a container to assist the crew.
* Branches must be less than 2 inches in diameter.
* We cannot remove downed trees.
*Remove all soil and dirt from shrub roots.
* No boards or lumber, and no weeds

Christmas trees are chipped in January.
